Learn about abortion in Venezuela: Safe Information: Abortion Hotline Report. 2024

Abortion is about self-care: voices and data from the Abortion Hotline: Safe Information.

In times of backlash and resistance, autonomy over our bodies remains an act of defiance and political affirmation. This report is born from the heart of that resistance: we accompany abortions because we believe in a life of dignity, in the right to decide, and in the strength of collective care.

Every data point recorded here is a story of struggle against structural violence, stigma, and precariousness. Every accompaniment is an active refusal of criminalization and of abandonment by the patriarchal and capitalist system.

In a context where anti‑rights movements reorganize and deepen inequalities, the feminist practice of accompaniment stands firm as a political technology of resistance. We accompany from a place that recognizes diversities, from a feminism that understands reproductive justice is only possible if we also fight against structural racism, precarization, and the multiple forms of violence experienced by women, girls, adolescents, and people with the capacity to become pregnant.

The Abortion Hotline: Safe Information is not just a service: it is a territory of feminist disobedience where we sow dignity, autonomy, and future. In a country where abortion remains clandestine and dangerous for most, we uphold that choosing is not a crime: it is a right, it is life, it is justice.

In 2024 we assisted 763 contacts: 472 under Protocol A and 135 under Protocol B. Of these 763 cases, 570 people voluntarily completed the surveys we administer in each protocol (75% of cases attended).

On average, during 2024 we received 2.09 contacts per day, a trend that has been rising progressively since previous years. However, in 2024 we received only 34 phone calls; the remaining 95% of contacts were interactions via the Telegram platform. We will keep accompanying until abortion is free, safe, free of charge, and accompanied for all.
